So, we didn't get discharged until 8:30 pm. The alarm on his feeding pump went off as soon as we got into the van and it went off several times while driving. Ugh. Maddox did great though. Although he did swallow a piece of gum. Which sort of freaked me out.
We got to my parents' house after 11:00. mason was zonked on their couch and it took a while to wake him up. He had a very hard time seeing Maddox. I felt so bad for him. It is hard seeing Maddox for the first time with the tubing and backpack.
We ended up refilling Maddox's bag at my parents. Maddox had a bit of blueberry pie my mom made for him and got home around 1:30am. Nothing like changing the bag for the first time after midnight.
I had Maddox set up in his crib with his backpack attached to the crib rails with a buckle. I ran downstairs to take care of something, went back upstairs to see Maddox out of the crib holding onto his backpack. With a huge, proud grin on his face. I almost cried I was so proud of him. He is such a determined fellow and willing to take risks and unwilling to let anything stop him. He has just accepted the backpack as part of his life and makes it work around his life. (he is now in a toddler bed)
We all got to sleep around 2:00am and Maddox's bag needed to be refilled At 4:00am. I was so proud of because I did it by myself and it only took 20 minutes. I was back to sleep by 5:00 and so excited to sleep until almost 9:00am. Then 40 minutes later Maddox woke up upset. The part that connects the bag of formula to Maddox's tube had come out. I didn't attach it tight enough. So....formula was everywhere and stuff from Maddox's tummy was coming out of his tube. And it looked bloody. After a quiet freak out in my head, I woke up Craig, we cleaned up Maddox and his crib. After a few minutes of silent freaking, I remembered the blueberry pie! It wasn't blood, it was pie. I don't remember when we got back to bed, but the alarm kept going off, so I finally shut it off so we could sleep for a couple hours. What a crazy 1st night home. (last night went much much better)
Maddox is acting as if he has had the feeding tube for a long time. He puts his backpack on and off by himself. And he hangs it up next to his bed before crawling in and puts it on to come downstairs. It's amazing watching him. I can learn a lot from this little guy. Mason is also doing exceptionally well. He treats Maddox like he always has and has accepted everything too. Children are amazing.
That's all I have time for now.

Sounds like it is going great! When do you go in for a check-up, to see if he's gaining weight, etc? I'm praying this reboots his digestive system! Keep up the good work, Mama! ♥
