Sleep Cycles

The face he makes when we ask him to smile.
Peeling apples with Nana's apple peeler and corer. Loved eating the peels.

...Or lack of...BUT, I remembered the 1000 thank yous, so, I will not rant about the sleep issue, instead I will think of things I am grateful for:

8. Family close by who can help out, support and are fun to hang out with.
9. Wonderful, long-time friends who know me and know just what to say and when to listen, and when to give me some Truth.
10. Merino wool socks. I am so grateful God made the animal that gives us Merino wool so my feet feel warm, toasty, and cozy
11. A husband who is understanding enough to be OK when I go upstairs for a half hour or more when he gets home, because I am so incredibly tired.
12 An incredible almost 7 year old son, who looks at the world in new ways and enjoys telling me his thoughts.
13 A fun-loving, energetic almost 2 year old who loves a snuggle and keeps me from getting boring and stuck in a rut around here.

Sittin on a Fence Post...

Actually just a chair. With Maddox eating chips and salsa, and Mason making some fort and playing some imaginative spy role-play thing. Lots of explosions, jumping, falling, ropes, tying, rolling, etc... going on.

We finally got our laptop working correctly so we can have the router upstairs and the laptop downstairs. It. is. heaven. Before, the laptop had to be physically connected to the router. Not sure what was going on before, but it is working now baby!

We have been doing (well, we were) a lot of hiking. My brother Dom has been joining us and it has been a lot of fun. I really hope is warms up soon, so we can get back at it. I miss being outside so much. I am not ready to be locked up in the house just yet.
Maddox is now dancing around the house with binoculars singing "Word Girl, Word Girl". He cracks me up. Thank goodness he has such a fun personality.

These pictures are from Hawk's Ridge

Oh, and my friend Kathy sent me a note on FB about 1000 things to be thankful for. I wanted to start on here earlier, but will start now. There is a wonderful picture that can be put on here, but I am not savvy enough to figure out how that works.
1. I am grateful for a husband who works hard and is a big help around the house.
2. I love Mason's peacefullness and the way he looks at the world, and that I get to see it pretty much every day.
3. I love being able to be a part of Mason's education and the privelege it really is to homeschool
4. I love the fact that Maddox can do something funny and I will laugh no matter how crabby I am
5. I love that I get to be home with Maddox so much at this age, when I had to work when Mason was this age.
6. I love being able to see...all the fall colors, my family, artwork, colors in general, nature. I just love the fact that I can see
7. I am grateful that Maddox was not injured as he just took a huge fall while I was typing this. Time for me to go :)

Sooo Far Behind

Well, it has been awhile. I'll just throw a few pictures on here, but there is so much catching up to do. I can't believe it has been a month.

I am still adjusting to homeschooling 1st grade. We have subjects now and it is a bit daunting. I feel like I don't have time to throw in the fun stuff, so I am still trying to figure all of this out. Mason continues to do well though and is enjoying it. today he had his first homeschool class at Hartley Nature Center. They meet once a month...I wish it was more because he loved it so much. I am still trying to find another group for us to attend that doesn't fall into Maddox's nap.
Speaking of that little peanut, he is not sleeping again. Hasn't been for about a month now, which is probably why I haven't been on here. He has been getting up 2-3 times a night. It is frustrating! Just when we think he is going to be sleeping consistently, he changes it up and starts getting up again. I have no idea why. Part of me wants to try taking out the soy again and see if that makes a difference. He was sleeping 12-13 hours at night straight through and taking 2-3 hours naps in July, but that went away when we started the soy. Who knows? Coincidence? Or related? ugh. That is how it goes with this little man.
He had a speech evaluation last week, and Chris felt there is something going on, but he may be working through it now. We'll just wait and see. I feel better about it, so I am not freaking out or anything.
Ahh, what else? The pictures are from Apple Fest. We went to Washburn and spent a couple nights. My sister, her boys, my mom and dad were there too. Dom and Kyrstle camped out on Madeline Island, but we were able to see them for a little bit. I couldn't believe they camped out.
Well, just looked at the clock. Time for school...need to go. Hope everyone is doing fine and is healthy!

Mason and my Mom made a gluten free, dairy free, potato free, egg free apple pie for me and it was FABULOUS!!!!!

Blowing raspberries and sitting with one of his favorite people, Nic.
