I went to the homeschooling conference for our state over the weekend. I spent the whole time looking at curriculums. Vendors are there and I can actually see the curriculums, vs looking online. Plus I am able to talk with parents who use the curriculums.
We spent a lot more money this year on curriculums for next year. But it is going to be worth it. The curriculum we have been using has been great, but there is a ton of prep and researching, because I am able to pick and choose what I want to do , which I do like doing, but it is too time consuming right now.
I ordered a science curriculum that has everything I will need in the box. Everything. And I can use it with Maddox when he gets older. And I LOVE the reading program I ordered. Aim able to use books that are at Mason's reading level and interest, while the writing part is at his level. His reading is above his writing, Sindhis is perfect. The program focuses on the different genres and how to get info from them. I love the writing activities that go along with the reading.
Our basic curriculum is still being decided on. But I am pretty sure we have it picked out. It also has some science in it, but it focuses more on the scientists. So the curriculum I purchased would work well with it.
And I purchased a new spelling program, which I can use through high school if we homeschool that long. And a great language arts program.
Life will be a lot easier next year. And the beauty of it all, is that it is a 4 day/week curriculum, so on the 5th day I can still do the fun types of things I like to do. And I am excited about the basic program because it Helps Mason transition to more independent study and work.
It's so fun to have all these new materials. It's like Christmas for me. It will be hard to wait until next school year. Now I just need to find a place for it all:)
