We have been keeping busy these cold days. Playing with shaving cream, coloring, and painting on the windows.
The boys LOVED painting on the windows this morning. Maddox actually participated for 45 minutes. that is pretty impressive for him. Later today Mason will try painting with corn syrup on fingerpaint paper. I'll post pictures on the next post.
We had the privlege of watching my friends two children ages 3 and 6 months the other day. It was so fun! Maddox loved having a playmate over and the baby was soooo easy. Gives me more baby fever, but this body just can't handle another pregnancy. Maddox loved the baby and didn't mind me holding him all day, until the end of the day. But then he just wanted to sit on my lap with the baby and put his arm around the baby. He told me at one point, that I could go in the other room and he would keep the baby safe and change him if the baby needed a new diaper. He was very gentle and sweet and tender with the baby.
Mason was enamoured with the little babe as well. He was also sweet, gentle and tender. He gave him a bottle and helped feed him and really enjoyed talking with him and playing with him. I think these two boys would do OK with a baby in the house. Mason was also very good with the 3 year old girl. He colored with her and played with her on his own. Moments like those reassure me that we are doing OK with our kids. That despite their imperfections and hard moments, we are doing OK.
Mason has been identifying with Craig more and more as he grows up. He asks for Craig to read him his bedtime story now, and those two head out quite a bit on outdoor adventures. It is hard letting him grow up, but it has to happen. The first time he asked me if "Dad could read me my story instead Mom?" I almost cried. He's always been my little guy. But this is part of the whole growing up process for a boy. And he still loves to snuggle up with me in the morning before Maddox wakes up and still enjoys hanging out with me.
It makes me appreciate even more the moments with Maddox. The other night as I was singing Maddox his bedtime song, he sang along with me. It was the sweetest moment. So I will enjoy those moments and treasure them even more.....even in the midst of all the screaming and crying ;)
I have been working out with Jillian Michaels Banish Fat Boost Metabolism dvd. It. Is. Killer. There are 7 circuits and I finally can do 5. I may try to do all 7 today. The only problem is I crave chocolate after the workouts. Last week I ate 2 bags of Hershey chocolate caramels, a whole bag of choc chip cookies, and several Ghiradelli chocolate caramels. No surprise I gained a pound! LAst night I had some m&m's. I need to find something else to snack on if the DVD is going to make any changes for me. But on the flip side, I only gained 1 pound after all that junk!
That is about all that has been going on here. I am really trying to find new crafty things to do with the kids and science experiments to keep us from being too bored. This time of year is so hard for me. But so far, this has been the best Jan for us. Thank goodness for the internet and crafty people!!
Well, this is pretty boring. I will end it here. hope everyone is doing well and staying warm.
