the last 8 days...

I was going to write a snazzy little poem about how we have spent the last 8 days, but I am tooo tired! Mason and Maddox have been very, very ill. Lots of tears, high fevers, coughs, nebulizers, runny noses, ear infections, ibuprofen, tears, antibiotics, cold sores, throw-ups from coughing so hard, sleeping on the couch with children, watching movies, tears, leaky basement with torrential rain, more tears, Dr. visits, crushing steroid tablets to feed a 15 month old, lots more tears, and I think I have covered it all. I got out of the house for the first time in 7 days yesterday morning for 2 hours (not counting Dr. visits and Urgent Care visits).
Maddox is actually sleeping in his crib right now...the first time in 5 days!!!! He has only been able to sleep in our arms for naps and at night and has needed to be held all day long...so unusual for him. It has been heart-breaking and exhausting seeing these little guys so ill. Mason started feeling better yesterday and is full of energy and b-o-r-e-d out of his mind. I had to set up the living room they way I had it when I was on bedrest so Mason and could play some games while I held Maddox on the couch.
Thankfully my sister came over today for a few hours to hold him while I got caught up on the laundry and dusted Mason's room. (Craig took Mason to the sports show). It felt nice to have a little break from holding him, but also to be so close so I could get him if he needed me.
I have been freaking out a bit because I am sooooo tired again and soooo crabby again. It felt so good to finally be getting sleep these first 3 weeks of March...can you believe Maddox didn't start sleeping 8 hours until March 4th at 15 months old? And that he had just began sleeping 12 hours at night about a week before he became so ill? These past 15 months have been surreal to say the least.
I am also worried about his weight. He is not eating much at all, and I know he has lost weight and with his allergies, there isn't much I can offer him. He wanted a pizza he saw on the counter today and I wished I could have given it to him. He has another weight check in a week. I'm not looking forward to that one.

A very ill Mason. He alternated between sitting on the couch and laying in his bed for several days.

So sick

So sweet.

We did manage to have a little bit of fun over the week. School was pretty much a bust, so I considered it our "Spring Break", since I hadn't worked that into our schedule anyway.

Mason and I made origami boats

YAY! They float!! (however, if you ever make origami boats and float them, do not try to fix them after they have been in the water. Mason's boat was leaning and taking on water, so I tried to fix it, but I only made it worse by making holes in it...bad momma.)

A couple of happy little sailors

A couple of "not-so-happy" little sailors, because their boat capsized. (this is the one I tried to fix)

We also made bubbles

Maddox was just getting sick on this day.

Both Mason and Maddox were entertained with these bubbles! (I really need to clean off that refrigerator door.)
